Consistency + Time = Results

Simple, not easy. There is nothing magical about that formula yet so many people give up before they achieve their desired outcome.

The truth is that you also need dedication. Motivation will wain, and its part is minor vs dedication. All you need to do is show up. There will be days that you are dreading your workout, show up anyway. Don’t give yourself excuses, pack your gear with you everywhere you go, always be ready. Be an opportunist. It’s not always convenient to train, but you are going to need to figure it out. Just keep showing up.

Let yourself start to focus on the task rather than the outcome. Fall in love with the process. The rigours of training become much easier when you change your mindset and it will be necessary if you are looking to make permanent change.

The reality is, you can’t just achieve your goal and then expect to maintain your new found fitness without continuing to train. You need a maintenance plan and a way to stay consistent. This is the point I see many people fall off, they’ve achieved their goal and now there isn’t motivation to continue training. That’s why you need to appreciate what got you there. Enjoyment in training will not only make the journey easier but it will make it possible for you to remain dedicated in the long term. When I say the long term I mean your life.

Live long and live well. Never stop training. Let training become as habitual as eating and sleeping.
